Welcome New Head of School - Rabbi Benjamin Geiger


We welcome Rabbi Benjamin Geiger, who begins his tenure as Head of School on July 15, 2024. 

Rabbi Geiger’s educational leadership experience is broad and 

deep, from school administration and oversight of general studies curricula, to actual instruction in sciences and Judaics, as well as congregational rabbinic roles.

Rabbi Geiger holds a Bachelor of Talmudic Law and a Masters of Talmudic Law Ordination from Ner Israel Rabbinical College and an MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University.

Rabbi Geiger grew up in Los Angeles, and began his career as a Jewish educator in Irvine, where he developed adult educational programing and led the NCSY chapter.  Just prior to coming to Hebrew Day School Rabbi Geiger was General Studies Principal of Mesivta Birkas Yitzchok in Los Angeles. 

Rabbi Geiger’s administrative experience, impressive credentials in science, math and general studies, and his deep grounding in Torah, traditional Jewish values, and love of Israel, are a unique combination that will serve San Diego Hebrew Day students and faculty well for years to come. He is a thoughtful, caring, and warm personality, dedicated to upholding our school’s diverse and welcoming community. Rabbi Geiger moves to San Diego together with his wife, Karen, a beloved elementary school teacher, tutor and mentor.
